April 8th, 2011

Friday, April 8, 2011 Chelsey and Adam tied the knot. Chelsey has been there for me for years and I am so happy that she has found Adam because he really is such an amazing guy and Chelsey deserves the best. I feel so lucky to be close to all of my cousins, but Chelsey, Joey and I have a really strong bond because we were really close in age. I feel so lucky to have two of my cousins be two of my best friends and that is really what we are. I feel as though I have been through so much with Chelsey that when she asked me to speak at her wedding dinner I had the hardest time cutting down what I was going to say. It was so much fun to be involved in all of the events leading up to the big day and the wedding day was beautiful. To start the wedding of right MacKenzie Bennett, Heather Hatch and Kimber Walton threw Chelsey a Bachelorette Party and it was so much fun and everything was decorated so cute. If you know me you know I love Bachelorette Parties! (MacKenzie I got this pic off your blog, hope you don't mind!)
I'm sad that I didn't get any pictures of the wedding dinner, but I left my camera at home. I was bummed because it was beautiful and the food was amazing. The program was really nice and it was so much fun to hear all of the funny stories people had for both of the them. The next morning was the temple and the ceremony was so good. Elder Ballard performed the ceremony and he did such an amazing job. Unfortunately it was raining outside when we were waiting, but the bride held her composer and you would have never known it was raining if you saw her.

My aunt Jill always has the cutest close and is always so put together. We had to take a picture that even her umbrella is stylin'!

April Has Sprung!

We have finally made it! Every year I get so excited for April to come because we have finally made it out three of the most depressing months of the year. After christmas I hate being in the snow and January and February feel as though there is no end to the cold and the snow. March comes and brings a little hope with a couple of days of sun and then we get to April and there is a joy because most of the days are either raining or sunny with an occasional snow storm not as often, but nothing too bad because it usually melts the next day. For Bret and I this year has flown by and March felt as though it went as fast as it came. So here we are enjoying the first of April and just when the weather starts to creep into the 60's mother nature decides to provide us with a huge snow storm that was one of the biggest this year. Typical Utah!
Bret and I were lucky enough to get tickets for the sunday morning session of conference. When we woke up and looked outside there was so much snow that I was not excited to go to conference anymore because I hated to drive, walk and wait in the snow. Bret being the faithful man that he is insisted that we go to conference saying that we would enjoy it. I wanted nothing more then to sit in a warm blanket in my house while watching conference enjoying the snow from the indoors, but no we had to go. I sound horrible and I was because when we got there it was not that cold outside and it was so much fun to go down and be apart of conference. I am very happy that my Bret insisted that we went because it really was so nice and the spirit was so strong and the talks felt as though they went by so fast because every speaker had such a great talk. I love conference and the inspiration that these men and women are given to speak about and how they are truly the words of our father in heaven speaking to all of us through his mouth pieces. I feel so lucky to belong to such an amazing religion as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It has helped shape me into the person I am today and had made me become a better wife, sister, daughter, cousin, friend and person. This gospel is truly amazing and I count my blessing everyday that I get to be apart of it and have such a strong family in this gospel.
Along with general conference it was my sisters birthday on sunday April 3rd. Kaci is my only sister and there is not a day that goes by that I am not grateful to have her in my life. Kaci has been there for me throughout my whole life. She is not only my sister, but my best friend. For those of you out there you all know that there is just a special connection between sister and with their kids as well. It has been so much fun to spend time with Kaci and her two cute kids. I feel so lucky to have a sister and so blessed she is in my life. She has done so much for me and been there through the thick and thin. Happy Birthday Kac, I love you so much!

This week is also a very special one because one of my closet friends who happens to be my cousin is getting married on friday. Chelsey and Adam are getting married and I am so happy for both of them. Chelsey has been one of my best friends for pretty much my whole life. We grew up playing together almost every weekend. We have gone to elementary school, jr. high and high school together. We have danced together for year and were on drill team and dance company together. Chelsey is the one that told me to do Chi-O and was really the one that made me decide on Chi-O. Countless family trips together and so so so much more. Chelsey and I have really done it all and through it all we have had each other. Chelsey was one of my bridesmaids and I feel so lucky to be one of hers on friday. I really do have such a special place in my heart for Chelsey because she has really been there for me through it all. Not many people can say that one of their best friends is their cousins and I feel so lucky to say that I have that. Our family is so close and because of that we share so much together. I love you so much Chels and I am so happy for you and Adam, Bret and I have had so much fun hanging out with you both and we love you both so much! Good luck with everything we love you guys!

Spring is Here!!!

My new years goal was to blog once a week and look how great I have done...Ha! One more goal that has failed within the first few moths of the year! Now with the start of spring I feel a sense of ambition and now I am going to try again, let's see how it goes! So with that being said it is time for a well needed up date, so let's start where we left off...
Spring semester is back in session and I almost can't believe that this is the last time I will be starting a semester again, hopefully! I started my last semester at the U and I can not be more excited to GRADUATE in may! College has been so much fun and I have really had the best experience, but I am ready to move on and never have to stress about a test or a paper again! This semester I do not know why, but I left one of the hardest Comm classes to the end. You can only take it as a junior or senior, but still why wait to the last semester when I have such a small amount of motivation left. So stayed tuned for graduation, hopefully!!!

Bret and I have been having so much fun with our little guy. Kota has been the best dog. He is a little annoying with the potty training, but it is fun to have a dog because it's been way too long. I feel really lucky to have a husband that loves dogs because Bret helps out a ton with taking care of this little guy. Bret is a total dog man and he let me know the other day that he will never live without a dog, so I guess I have to get used to the fact that there will always be a dog around our household.

In January Bret and I went with Bret's parents, Mike and Dolly to the auto show at the South town expo center. I had never been to the auto show so Bret thought that it was a must that we go! It was so much fun. We got to see so many fun cars and got to sit in a lot of them. All of dream cars happened to be at the show and everyone that I sat in I would ask Bret if he was prepared to buy me it one day! Even though I partially kidding it is a good goal to look forward to, wink wink!
Mike in front of his dream car!
Bret loved this car and I LOVED that he loved it because its RED and BLACK, he is slowly converting in to a Ute!!! Yay!
On February 3 ,2011 Bentley Ann Johnson came in to this world around 1 pm. I was lucky enough to have been there and watch the birth. This is the second child to my sister, Kaci and her Husband Devin, but this is their first girl. It was so much fun to be there and get to hold her within the first few hours of her life. I have to say that holding this little baby and being there made me a little baby hungry, but Bret quickly put me in line letting me know the price of it all! I feel so close to have a sister like Kaci and even more lucky to have the relationship that we do. It has been so much fun to spend time with her and her kids and I am hoping that we don't wait to long to have kids so our kids to play together!
He's shaved! I have been dreading the day that Kota would have to get shaved because I knew that he would lose a lot of his cute brown and black hair that he had when he was a puppy. The day felt like it came all too soon. His hair kept growing and the more it would grow the more knots he would get so I finally surrendered and decided it was time for him to go to the groomer. As I went in I thought I would just ask if possibly they could just trim it and to my dismay the groomer told me they don't do that. She thought it would be best if we shaved it off then grew it back again. As I left she warned me that my dog would not look the same when I came back and sure enough when I came to get him I couldn't even recognize him. I was devastated. He was so ugly, I kept having to tell myself that this was the same dog that I had loved for a long time and that it would grow back. So now I have to patiently wait for him to become cute again because let's just be honest he is now hideous! Looking at the bright side, at least he is soft!
Valentines weekend Bret and I were lucky enough to get the chance to watch Mila and Eva for the weekend. I was so excited to see the girls because it had been so long, but I think Bret was just thinking about the money! We had so much fun. My nieces Marissa and Jillian came over to play with Mila and they all were having so much fun that they had a sleepover. It was nice for Bret and I because while they were playing and watching movies downstairs we got to play with Eva! We had so much fun and it was so hard to leave the girls because we both love them so much.
After tending for a whole weekend it was nice to come home and just be the two of us again. Valentines day was the next day and I was so excited because it was our first valentines day married! This year was my year to plan valentines day. I was so excited, but intimidated because Bret had planned such a great valentines last year. We started night at P.F. Changes for dinner which was amazing! We then went and had a couples message. We had never had a couples message so this was a blast because we were able to relax while enjoying it together. After being so relaxed that I could barley move myself off the table we headed home to open gifts and watch the Bachelor! Valentines day was awesome not just for all the fun we had, but the fact that we actually had each other. I used to hate valentines day because when you didn't have anyone to spend it with it was a huge reminder that you completely and utterly alone. It is soooo much better to have someone sooo much better!

After the birth of cute B-town Kaci and Devin moved into their new home. My mom have been helping Kaci pack up as she has not been able to do much after giving birth. Just two weeks after little B-town was born Tate, Kaci's oldest got sick with RSV and gave it to Bentley. Even though RSV it is a scary virus for two year olds it is that much worse for a two week old. That being said Bentley was hospitalized for the virus. It was a very stressful time for Kaci and Devin, but they are such troopers and made it through it now being all moved in to their new home. I feel so lucky I wasn't working so that I was able to help with everything and I know this sounds cheesy, but I think it was meant to be.

After getting out of the hospital I got to spend some time with Tater while Kaci was trying to move in and get little B-town better. This pictures just tells you how much fun I had while hanging out with this little monster!
February is a great month for me I get valentines and my birthday all in one month! February 29th is my real birthday, but since it only comes once every four years Bret decided to celebrate my birthday on February 28th. It was one for the books! I first started the day by sleeping in! My mom and Kaci took me to Lunch at Kneaders it was so good and fun to be with my mom and sister. After lunch I went to pick Bret up from work and we went to Bath and Body Works and Bret let me get a few things! When we came home Bret told me to get into my snow gear. I was not excited because I was over the snow and did not want to go play in it. With a bad attitude we left for our destination. I had no idea where we were going so when we pulled up to Gorgoza park in Park City my attitude completely changed. I was so excited because I had driven past this park so many times and always wanted to try this way of sledding. As we were walking up out pops Joey and Page from behind the tent and I then became ecstatic! This was really the best way to go sledding. It was so much fun because part of the fun was being taken up the hill on a tube. It was so much fun and so much more fun to have Joey and Page there to enjoy it with us! Thank you so much for coming you two it was so much fun!

After an intense sledding session and Page getting a flat lip we all wen to dinner at Cheesecake Factory, my favorite restaurant. It was amazing as always and to top it off we got to see Jimmer and some of the other BYU basketball players there. They were all celebrating Jimmer's Birthday which is February 25th. After being sung to Bret and I went home to open gifts. Bret spoiled me with my favorite treats, a pedicure, manicure and a tj max gift card. It really was one of the best birthdays ever. Thank you so much babe for making the whole day so much fun I am so lucky to have you I love you so much!
After an amazing birthday my brother and his wife went to Hawaii leaving Bret and I with their four kids! We had such a good time. I got to play mom for a week, but I have to say after having the baby for just a few days I was ready for Kelley to come home! Saturday night my mom offered to take Max so that we could take the older kids to a movie. We were all set to see the Justin Bieber movie, but when we got to the theater Bret and Sam backed out and went to Rango instead so just us girls went to JB 3D. It was such a good movie and I hate to admit it, but I have a bad case of Bieber Fever! We had so much fun with Aeden, Sam, Emi and Max and we were really sad to say goodbye.
The other night we went over to Kaci and Devin's to watch the BYU game and yes I hate to admit it, but Bret had a really great time as you can see in the picture below!
This new year has been a great one and we are so excited for spring to be here and to get out of this dreadful cold winter. I will be better at blogging I promise! Now that I am not as depressed because it is spring there will be more to blog about!
